Well Woman Tests

At LifeWorks Wellness Center you will be offered the following tests as part of your annual Well Woman exam in addition to the Pap Smear and Thermography .

Bone Resorption Assay

The bone resorption test measures if you are losing bone density at a rate which could put you at risk for osteoporosis. If you already have accelerated bone loss and are being treated for it, this test can be run to monitor the effectiveness of your therapy against bone loss. It is important for your healthcare practitioner to know if you have rapid bone resorption (accelerated loss of bone) as this puts you at risk for osteoporosis. By finding out this data, you can benefit most from natural supplementation to ensure you are maintaining excellent bone health. Repeated testing every 2 or 3 months will allow your healthcare practitioner to adjust your therapy so you can achieve the most benefit in the shortest time.

Standard Blood Panel

This is a standard panel of 14 tests which serves as an initial broad screening tool for your healthcare practitioner. At LifeWorks Wellness Center , the standard blood panel is ordered as a routine part of your Well Woman exam and provides important monitoring of your health. Typically, the patient fasts for ten or twelve hours before the blood is drawn for the test. The test comprises:

  • CMP (Comprehensive Metabolic Profile) – tests for blood chemistries such as glucose, protein, calcium, sodium, potassium and more
  • Lipid Profile – tests cholesterol levels
  • CBC (Complete Blood Count) – tests blood counts
  • Thyroid Profile – tests thyroid function
  • Hepatic Panel – tests liver enzymes

Hemoccult Test

At LifeWorks, this test is performed on patients 45 years old and older and is a test to check for the presence of blood in the stool. The presence of blood in the stool may indicate colon cancer or other disease process. This non-invasive, easy-to-use test is done at home and then returned to LifeWorks for analysis.
